Wow. What a full year!  God has opened doors for Reach & Restore and He continues to confirm the direction before our eyes as we put our faith in Him.

December was a busy month as we helped a woman move, distributed 12 beds with bedding and have two more beds ready to be delivered any day. Two families were given all the basics to start over after getting out of shelters and a few others were given specific items requested.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to help two other people move as we were a bit overwhelmed near the end of the month. There were a handful of families that were adopted for Christmas and were blessed by deliveries by volunteers.  While delivering a bed and bedding to a single mother and her kids, the social worker asked one of the children if he had a pillow. He said he didn’t and the social worker said “Well now you do”.  “I have a pillow! I have a pillow!” He said with excitement. What a joy to tell the person who donated the pillow that they made a huge difference in someone’s life through something so simple.

What an encouragement to have such enthusiastic help during our storage move this weekend!  The crew approves the new space and can see the potential for R&R growth.  The rest of this month we will have volunteers help to organize and put our new shelves to use. Thank you to all who have made this transition a quick and smooth one.

This activity isn’t the only thing happening.  A different pregnant teen was referred to New Life Services for help closer to her area.  A single dad who is starting over with nothing at the end of the month was referred to us. A single woman was given basic items to put in her new empty apartment. A woman received help cleaning her kitchen after disposing of food infested with grain bugs. Due to her health, there was no way she could have dealt with the issue by herself.  A teenager who has very large feet, who was squeezing into Size 15 shoes, was given Size 16 shoes- a size that isn’t easy to find but God provided a new pair!  Two new referrals last week which include the need for beds.

What are the needs of R&R right now?  People who have a desire to become a Life Preserver to someone that is referred to us.  This person has the pleasure of meeting and blessing someone they would probably never get to meet otherwise. It only requires a willingness to accept and commit to checking in with the person a handful of times. Many times a listening ear is what is needed most.

R&R hopes to always have a few Life Preservers on hand to fulfill this role with new referrals. Please contact us if you have questions or would like to be involved in this ministry!

It’s transition time!  Today we cleaned the new storage spot after turning in and signing our lease this week. Thanks to our volunteers who helped and went away pretty dusty!  What a huge difference a little time and elbow grease makes!   Everything should be set up before Thanksgiving and what a wonderful weekend that will be.  We can’t wait to gather more volunteers and connect with more churches and organizations.

This past week we also delivered household/furniture items to the teen mother. We could see that she was on the verge of tears as her things were brought in.  There will be future contacts with her and hopes to connect her to some people who will be supports in the days ahead.  “I don’t know what to say! I have a home now. I was sleeping on the floor before. Thank you Thank you Thank you”.

We told her God loves her.

Two more families were referred to us who are starting over with nothing.  Another needs housing.

Size 16 shoes were located for a high schooler in need.  And brand new!  We have an Amazing God!
