Today a family was given help moving. They had arranged for their friends to help them last week and no one showed up leaving the family stranded without any other options but to ask for outside help. Their county worker referred them to us and with generous volunteer help, accomplished the job.

What an awesome witness to all involved.

We are currently helping three families search for housing. One of which is due to have a baby any day!

Another family we’ve been in touch with just had twins!  A church group has really come around this family and will be in touch with their challenges ahead. Praise God the babies and mom are doing great and will be home in a few weeks.

There is excitement around our first Open House coming up at the end of the month.  Please pray for this event as guests will finally get to see a glimpse of what God has provided for this ministry and will be a time of sharing the vision together.

Some things that have been going on….

Today two beds were delivered for two girls who had been without for at least a month.

Two families who have had to start over due to house fires are receiving assistance with replacing some of their household items. They are both waiting for beds.

A gentleman who has been unemployed, having surgery tomorrow and will soon have to move out of his rental because of the landlord foreclosure was given a gift card for food to assist him during this tough time.  We will be looking for housing leads.

A pregnant woman on bed rest with twins had no phone access due to other financial priorities, was given assistance for a free voicemail service. After her twins are born, we plan to provide some meal assistance and ?

A pregnant teen got a job through a lead we provided and will be receiving maternity clothing this week. Her family is starting to communicate with her as they accept her pregnancy now. We hope to stay connected and be a support for her.

A family was given clothing and vacuum bags. The clothing was a perfect fit and they are thrilled to have “like new” clothes.

A rocking chair and stroller are being delivered this week to a woman due any day.

A family will receive organization assistance to ease the stress with their autistic child who needs order to thrive.

A previous contact whom we assisted, donated a bed that was given to another family in need.

A previous contact whom we assisted has decided to volunteer at the storage space.

Thank you for your continued prayers and donations.  We are excited to have a new Board member join us in Feb. after one of our original members has moved out of state.

As we hear of more families searching for help and support around us,  we anticipate growth in the number of requests coming into R&R.  Please consider participating in this needed ministry.

You may not hear the thank yous, see the relief or hope directly, but please know that it’s going on because of your support.

Praise God for willing hands and hearts that love their neighbors as themselves.

Wow. What a full year!   God has opened doors for Reach & Restore and He continues to confirm the direction before our eyes as we put our faith in Him.

December was a busy month as we helped a woman move, distributed 12 beds with bedding and have two more beds ready to be delivered any day.  Two families were given all the basics to start over after getting out of shelters and a few others were given specific items requested.  Unfortunately, we weren’t able to help two other people move as we were a bit overwhelmed near the end of the month. There were a handful of families that were adopted for Christmas and were blessed by deliveries by volunteers.

While delivering a bed and bedding to a single mother and her kids, the social worker asked one of the children if he had a pillow. He said he didn’t and the social worker said “Well now you do”.

“I have a pillow!  I have a pillow!”  He said with excitement.  What a joy to tell the person who donated the pillow that they made a huge difference in someone’s life through something so simple.

Our volunteers are reporting that they approve of the new storage space and a few new volunteers have expressed interest in coming back to help. This is a wonderful confirmation that the investment in our rented space will help more families in the New Year ahead.

The R&R Board will be meeting again soon to discuss and pray about the goals for 2009. We will be posting them here so stay tuned!

If you have donated this year and have not received a receipt, please contact us.

As we reflect on the free gift that Christmas brings, we remember God’s unconditional love for us and what drives Reach & Restore!  May we continue to go and reach out to those in need around us.
